Passive Survey
A passive wireless survey involves your MHD technician gathering environmental information that could lead to answers about your network’s connectivity or performance issues. During a passive survey, we will measure signal levels and attenuation, which is the loss of signal strength.
Active Survey
An active wireless site survey is a more in-depth evaluation. In addition to measuring signal strength and attenuation, we will also measure throughput (the speed at which data is being delivered from one point in the network to another), packet loss (the amount of data that fails to reach its intended location), and additional relevant information.
Predictive and Access Point on a Stick Surveys
Following a passive or active survey, MHD can generate a predictive survey to review data gathered from the onsite survey and propose changes or create a new design for you.
Once a predictive survey is provided or has been reviewed, you can choose to request an Access Point on a Stick survey, which is used to validate predictive coverage/design. Our team would return onsite and complete a new survey, verifying coverage with our proposed networking updates—an example includes adding or relocating access points.
